Emmett's Petfinder post
Rottweiller, adoption $250, (neutered) male, apprx 3-4 yrs, 65 lbs
dogs - yes cats - yes, children- yes
He’s
hoping for a home that mostly wants a hang out buddy for some short
strolls and a game of fetch. He’s not a very athletic Rottweiler due to
some physical limitations but he is the sweetest guy to chill with!
Emmett
is approximately 4 years old and he’s a smaller Rottweiler topping out
at 65 pounds. He is dog neutral (meaning he’s not interested in playing
with dogs but he’s polite and respectful with other
dogs
including small dogs.) He has a high toy drive and shares his toys well
with other dogs but if you also have a high toy drive dog, smart
management should be implemented so it’s not competitive. Emmett
completely ignores the cats in his foster home and has been great with 7
and 9 year old kids in his foster home.
Crate trained and good on car rides.
Fostered in Vancouver, Washington

his past: Emmett
was found mauled, bullied by another dog, but because of kind people, he got into a Rescue so he could be loved, given time to heal, and find a good home.
Meet Emmett
Please read Emmett's entire profile before reaching out. We are
seeking a home with a fenced yard for him because he is really
comfortable outside and loves to lounge and play with his ball. This boy
is a real gem temperamentally with no aggression issues whatsoever
however he does have some aspects to consider...
Emmett reminds us of the cutest little gargoyle! Once you meet him
you'll understand. He's a short-framed boy that looks like purebred
Rottweiler only with a smaller frame. We rescued Emmett out of some
absolutely terrible neglect in California but his resilient personality
has remained a happy boy throughout his recovery! Emmett loves life.
- Approximately 4 years old and 65 pounds
- Appears to be a purebred Rottweiler, his tail is docked and front dew claws are removed.
- He does have a slight limp on his front leg which is likely from an
old injury. It has been x-rayed and no fracture was found but he does
have a hitch in his walk. He is also fairly flat footed on his front
paws. He will not be an athlete or hiking buddy but he will enjoy
running after the ball or strolls around the neighborhood. His exercise
requirement is pretty low. A walk and some fetch would be fine by him.
- His two main goals in life are to play with his favorite ball and to
get heaps of attention from people! Emmett is extremely ball motivated
and self entertains just having his favorite ball around. He also enjoys
soaking up the pets and cuddles from people. He's just learned to
snuggle up on the couch with humans and he thinks it's pretty nice! He
knows no stranger and greets everyone politely without jumping up and
with a smile.
- Super neutral with other dogs! He is not reactive to meeting or
hanging out with other dogs large or small. He currently resides with a
45 pound female dog and also has hung out with an intact male French
Bulldog and he is polite and a gentleman. Emmett has not been playful
with other dogs so if you're looking for a playmate for your dog, he
might not be the ideal energy level. Emmett more or less just likes to
hang out with dog friends.
- Good with cats and fostered with two cats. Emmett pretty much ignores them and has not show any prey drive.
- Good with kids and has been fostered with kids ages 7 and 9 years old.
We believe kids ages 7+ in his future home who are respectful of dogs
would be just fine with Emmett.
- Walks nice on leash and doesn't pull much at all. He is not reactive
to other dogs on leash. No barking or lunging seeing other dogs or
people.
- Good for car rides and no car sickness. He does need a slight boost
from the human to help him up into the vehicle but is cooperative for
this.
- Shares toys well and no resource guarding noted. He is highly ball
motivated so if you have a resident dog with a high ball drive, this is
something that would take management between dogs to ensure no
competition.
- Emmett does need consistent supervision and structure with his potty
habits. He was largely an outdoor dog his whole life and is learning the
ropes and routine of being a household member. He also just got
neutered on May 19th so the testosterone is diminishing in his system
some. He's not a marker indoors but sometimes has had pee accidents and
is a work in progress on this but is getting better with consistency.
Emmett is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm tested
negative, bloodwork done and it looks good, current on
flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He will have a dental on June 13th to
remove some broken and worn down teeth and we will cover the cost of
this procedure. He can be met in his foster home prior to that and we
would get him to surgery and recover him for a week afterwards. His
adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner
vet clinics in Oregon City, Portland, Tualatin or Milwaukie.
