UPDATE 9/1/23 Adopted
After spending a few minutes with Gunner in a larger area shelter play-yard, I took him off the leash (staying close by to help him) and he maneuvered through the kiddy pool, around an old tree stump and a few other big obstacles in the yard. He lightly bumped into the fence. I was talking to him as he walked, to reassure him I was there, and was ready to put him back on leash. Gunner walked slowly, sniffing all the many smells in the play yard and did fine. Gunner enjoys life and is quite the cute character with his short tan and white legs, round body with the interesting Rhodesian Ridgback stripe down his whole back and his darling face. What a love. Gunner is hoping for a home (probably without many stairs, and few surprises) who appreciates his loving spirit and can accommodate his blindness.

Hey there! My name is Gunner and I am an adult male Rottie [Ridgeback] mix. Since I am blind, when going to pet me please do your best not to make sudden movements that may startle me. I am known to be scared of loud noises, but once I know who is coming up to me I will be your best friend! I might need a little more guidance on walks than most dogs, but that's just because I'm a special boy. When I'm excited, I get super wiggly and jumpy because I can't wait to hang out with you. My new potential family should know that because I am blind and startle easy in unfamiliar settings, I will need time to get to know my surroundings when you take me home! I would probably do best in a household with no young kids, but I do get along well with other doggies. I love to go on walks, and helping me lose a few pounds wouldn't hurt! If you are seeking a silly friend to keep you company through your life and are ready for the happiness a blind dog can bring you then please come say hi :)
ps - it would be fun to do a Canine DNA test for Gunner

Hello, I'm Smidge! I'm a young lab...pit...something? But I am VERY cute and just as darling with my personality! I'm a little shy around my head before I get to know you, but keep lots of treats in your pockets and we'll be best friends in no time! I'm a sucker for a squeaky toy or tennis ball...you could call me a material girl. Give me anything fun to play with and I'm yours! Want to whisk me away to a new home? Come meet me!

Nice boy with a great personality. Aussies are very active dogs, and not suitable for apartment living esp since Rodeo does have a pretty loud bark at times. Aussies are Not suitable for homes with inactive people

Hi, I'm Rodeo, a delightful, younger Aussie mix! I came to the shelter as a stray, though my finder kept me with them for a bit while trying to figure out where I needed to be. I'm house trained and good with everyone according to them! I was a very affectionate, lovely boy for my intake exam, and know a handful of commands according to my finders as well. I'm an active breed, so I'd love outlets to keep my body and mind occupied - puzzles of sorts, lots of hikes or jogs, and other energetic, physical and mental challenges would be PERFECT! I am very food motivated, so treats will come in handy with any positive reinforcement you have in mind. Want to come see me? Please stop by the shelter!
Love this big guy, and In spite of what some people think about this breed, I bet that Jack would love to be an inside dog in a home with his people, as long as he was also given lots of safe outdoor space to hang out in. He is a sensitive guy who loves his friends, and may be suspicious of strangers (as his breed genes dictate) so continuing to make positive associations with new people is important in his new home.
Jack has been in shelter playgroups and does great with other friendly easy-going dogs
Please do your research on the Great Pyrenees breed, and then come visit this big guy "Jack"! Jack is timid, loves his friends and is easy to walk in quiet places - busy city life is NOT a match for this boy. He also likes other dogs (Jack may be a bit unsure at first, then really enjoys the company ) ps sometimes other dogs are intimidated by very dogs and may try to bully them)
