UPDATE 5/12/26 OWR FB POST
UPDATE on GHOST, the Weimaraner hit by a car and released to our custody while being stabilized at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin. We are quite pleased to report that Ghost has made a seemingly full recovery under the watchful eyes of his wonderful foster parents and the care provided by the excellent medical professionals at Albany Animal Hospital who worked with us to provide very timely and necessary medical care in this unique situation. At this time Ghost's eye has healed, all of his bruising has rescinded, limp is no longer present, neutering has occurred, several teeth have been extracted and his basic vaccines have begun On top of all of the good health news comes the best news, which is that his lovely foster parents have decided to adopt this now quite exuberant young guy as a full fledged member of the family
Taking on a costly and financially unscripted case such as Ghost was only made possible through the outpouring of financial support which we receive from our absolutely fantastic supporters, so we want to extend a big THANK YOU to each and every person who shares, likes, adopts, volunteers and donates to our nonprofit cause. You are awesome and we would not be able to do this without you!

Oregon Weimaraner Rescue is asking for donations.
Update on the Weimaraner which was dropped off at Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin last week and subsequently released to our custody by the county after no owner could be located (register your microchips otherwise they do not work!)
Ghost is definitely banged up but he is alive and we are hopeful that over the coming week, with a good amount of quiet and rest, many of his current ailments will resolve themselves. It is believed that he took a good shot from a vehicle to his right side which explains the trauma to the eye, the laceration to his shoulder which required staples, the damage to his right lung and the stiffness visible on his right side when he moves. The good news is that he has no broken bones that anyone has identified to date, the issues of his pneumothorax (collapsed lung) seemingly resolved at the ER and he is in a wonderful foster home resting which is the absolute best thing for him at this moment. The bad or unknown things facing him are that his radiographs showed possibly 2 bullae (blisters of a sort) in/on his right lung which will either absorb back into his body and require no action or burst which will be an immediate trip to an ER Vet and a tough decision about what can/will be done at that time.
The other, less life-threatening, issues facing Ghost are that he has several chipped teeth in the front of his mouth which are no doubt a result of the accident, he is intact and we need to establish a vaccine history for him (the issue of his right eye dilation and redness will hopefully resolve with the passage of time but we will be discussing this further when he gets in to the vet).

What all of this will require, and has already taken a good dose of, beyond just amazingly flexible volunteers, is financial support. While money is not what will solve all of the issues for Ghost, that will require a bit of good fortune, it certainly will be a portion of his recovery effort. Costs from our ownership portion of his time at the ER have already been absorbed and we are actively making plans for the future veterinary care which we know he will need (not to mention the likelihood of their being unexpected treatments needed). If you are able and wish to support us with a tax deductible donation, that would be wonderful and we would be much appreciative. Donation methods are available on our website https://www.oregonweimrescue.org/support and on this post.
We will certainly attempt to provide periodic updates on this gentle guys progress but he is currently only 1 of 7 dogs we are handling at the moment so the updates may be sporadic and we hope that there is no news at all for several days.
Thanks,
Garrett
