Maximus is a 60lb "diamond in the rough" who has undergone a beautiful
transformation since leaving the shelter. While the loud warehouse
environment was overwhelming for him, he has blossomed into a goofy,
affectionate puppy in the comfort of his foster home. He is a
world-class "leaner" who will melt into your legs for pets the moment he
knows he is safe, proving that behind his large frame is a truly
soulful and devoted companion.
To reach his full potential, Maximus relies heavily on the "buddy
system." He is a dog's dog who takes all of his "brave" cues from his
canine companions and absolutely must have a confident resident dog
friend in his new home. Whether it's a game of rough-and-rowdy wrestling
or simply following a mentor through a doorway, having a furry leader
by his side is the key to his confidence.
Life with Maximus is full of charming puppy-like mischief. He is a clean
houseguest and a very fast learner who is currently mastering his house
manners and basic commands.
scared in shelter (that's why foster homes are so important!)
He has developed a hilarious habit of being
a "sock thief," where he will gently "borrow" your socks or shoes to
collect in his bed-he doesn't chew them, he just likes to keep them
close to him while he naps. When he isn't collecting laundry, he is
likely engaging with his favorite toys; play is his love language, and
he uses toys to self-soothe and express his happiness.
Because of his sensitive nature, Maximus is looking for a family that
can provide a bit of advocacy and plenty of patience. He experiences
some initial "stranger danger" and thrives with slow, floor-level
introductions where he can approach on his own terms. The big world can
still feel a bit scary, and he sometimes finds doorways or busy streets
intimidating. He needs a leader who will use positive reinforcement and
high-pitched "baby talk" to help him navigate new adventures.
Maximus's dream setup is a quiet, low-traffic home (best with kids 12+)
with a secure yard where he can have his zoomies in peace. He is a
loyal, soulful companion waiting for a family to celebrate his "small
wins" and provide the soft landing he deserves. If your resident dog is
looking for a new best friend and you have a lap ready for a 60lb
snuggler, Maximus is ready to meet you.
