no dogs or cats

in foster home

Hi I'm Winifred! I'm a young active female dog with beautiful speckles and a unique face! I am looking for a home with no other dogs or cats. If you are looking for a dog to take to the dog park, that is not me (No Thanks!) but I may be the dog for you if you like getting outside for walks and also enjoying quiet evenings on the couch watching a movie. Here is a little bit more about me so you can get to know be better: -I like toys but am a "super-chewer" so durable toys and bones are a must. -I have good house manners and haven't shown signs of anxiety when alone. I have not been destructive of items in the home when alone either. -I would probably like a calmer quiet home environment best. -I'm a smart girl and learn quickly with rewards-based training methods. I am learning some basic skills like Sit and Leave It. My adopter can continue this reward-based learning so I grow into a lovely mature adult dog. -I have some big feelings about seeing other dogs on-leash and have shown reactivity towards other dogs. But my fosters have been working with me using rewards-based training to change my response when I see another dog. I am learning to check in with my handler for a treat when I see another dog instead of barking at them. They say I'm doing much better! -I am potty-trained but if you get me very excited, I may tinkle a little (really, but who doesn't?!). -Wish list item: I would LOVE a securely fenced yard to run around, play and play fetch in but not it's not required. -So far I've done well meeting new people but I would count on my new person/family to go at my pace not exposing me to too much too soon to help set me up for success. -I can get excited in new environments easily so a calm, supportive and patient human would be great to have by my side. -I'm still learning not to jump on people. -Consistent mental and physical activities are important for me! Regular mental & physical enrichment will help prevent boredom and the undesirable behaviors that go along with boredom. I am excited to find a forever home where my new person/family can help me learn and grow into a lovely mature adult dog. If this sounds good to you and you think your home may be the right fit for me... what are you waiting for?

**Winifred (aka Winnie) is currently part of an offsite program in Hillsborough. Don't worry she is still available for adoption and can go home with her new family the last week of April. The adoption counselor will fill you in on the details of meeting and adopting this special girl!**
