"BOLT" Adoption update!

Bolt Adoption update Aug 28, 2018
 Nice to see Bolt enjoying a hike
with his new mom!
So very happy that Loretta came to MCAS last week to meet Bolt and decided to adopt him, after so many months of Bolt waiting for a good home to find him.
I don't want to jinx anything...transition periods can take time
for everyone to settle in comfortably.
Please continue sending good thoughts to Bo and his new mom.
 He's is such a cool dog with so much love to offer!

"EMMA" lively teenage Black Lab (mix?)

Emma, Lab mix

Hi new potential family! My name is Emma, a 8 month old Black Lab. I am an energetic lady looking for an energetic family that can keep up with me! Do you like to hike? Great! I would make an excellent hiking partner. Do you like to run? Even better! I would make an excellent running buddy! I also REALLY like to fetch, and will fetch anything from squeaky toys to tennis balls. Did I mention I have a lot of energy!? My ideal family will continue my positive rewards based training, and understand that I will NOT be a couch potato. Sure, I'd love to Netflix and chill once I am tired, but I am also a young pup, and will get into mischief when I get bored. You know what they say, a tired dog is a happy dog! I am a bit jumpy, so any smaller children under the age of 5 should come meet me before going home with me to make sure they can handle my energy level, and any canine pals should come in to meet me as well!  8 mths, 50 lbs and growing.

 THERE WILL BE A SIGN UP SHEET OUTSIDE THE SHELTER FOR MY ADOPTION ON 8/30/18 AT 11 AM. My adoption will be on a first come, first serve basis. I look forward to meeting you!!!

Hi there! My name is Bolt, I am a 4 year old, 56lb lab mix who has worked my way into the hearts of many volunteers and staff here at MCAS. It could be because of my sweet and sensitive eyes, my gentle kennel presentation, or my stylish-superhero looks! For those I recognize and adore, I stand on my hind legs and greet them happily at the front of my kennel. I do have a prey drive for smaller critters, and the shelter is seeking an adult-only home with no other animals. I have some other adoption requirements, which the shelter will review with you during the interview process. Do you think I could marvel my way into your life? Ask to meet me today! I AM IN A DIFFERENT PART OF THE SHELTER, ASK TO MEET ME TODAY
 ===========
Do you believe that a really good dog should get a second chance for a good home finally in his life?
Are you looking for a dog who loves belly rubs and giving affection? A dog who bonds strongly, but also is affectionate/loving to more than one person and one who appreciates the small kindness you can give him? How about a dog who has an amazing sense of smell and knows when you will appear without hearing your voice or your step, or being able to see your presence?

Please consider Bolt - one of the longest term (and the best) dog residents at the shelter.

So why would a lab mix be one of the longer term shelter dogs - and still not adopted?  Bo and his canine brother, were not kept responsibly and spent alot of time in an insecurely fenced yard. One time when they got out together, they unfortunately injured a small dog. They both ended up at the shelter because of this.
Bolt also has fears of some strangers rushing into his space without warning, but is
generally an easy/non reactive guy to take out around people and other dogs.

Bo has some Multnomah County adoption requirements which is making it tough for him to find a new home; The requirement are easily manageable for any responsible loving home - which is what he needs and deserves- but sadly none of the interested people liking Bolt who are looking for a "Lab mix" ever go any further in the adoption process once they find out he has any "stips" attached to his adoption.
Come on guys, give Bolt a Chance! Bolt is a very amazing dog that any gentle  dog/ savvy person would be blessed to adopt.

The adoption requirements are also easier to meet if the responsible adopter lives outside of Multnomah Co. ( and yes, he deserves a responsible owner this time)
==========================
All Bolt's many fans are currently grateful that he is still staying sane, especially now that he is moved to a calmer area, and that he is still available to find a new home.
 We ALL wish someone wonderful would finally come to the shelter soon to adopt this sweet guy!!!

Please come visit Bolt and give him a chance to show you his amazing self. PLEASE NOTE _ BOLT IS  LOCATED IN A DIFFERENT AREA (and doing better because of it)  PLEASE ASK TO MEET HIM!
============================================

Thanks Zoe for caring for Bolt

"BOLT" Update (aka "Beau" aka "Bo Bo") Please come visit -sensitive Lab mix -

ADOPTED!!!!!
Aug 2018

Bolt (aka Bo) Pet of Week Flyer June 25, 2018

========
We love this guy and things have made it tough for him to find a new home. Beau has been in a kennel for a long time - almost 7 months.  He used to be quite calm in the kennels, but his long stay has taken a tool on his kennel presence and he has become more barky when dogs go by his kennel (so please ignore that, because he is not that way outside of the kennel, and won't be that way when he settles into a home)
Bolt to his  many friends is one of the most affectionate dogs you could ever meet  He loves pets and belly rubs and just hanging out with you.  He's an amazing dog for some lucky person(s), and if I were in the position to do so, would foster or adopt him. We all just hope Bo finds the right home  who is responsible, makes a commitment and sticks by him, and understands and appreciate Bolt like so many of us do, AND gives him the time he'll need to adjust. Bolt probably had an abusive (or at very least, a lousy) owner
and was also left alone much of the time in an insecure yard with his canine brother (who has since been adopted) One time when they got out of the yard they injured a small dog and the owner of such also got a bite when he reached in (I think - these are my words only, and  are the not official notes/ language obviously)
Because of this incident, Bolt has some requirements that go along with his adoption - a secure
6 ft wood fence, (not to be left alone in the yard, I think) needs to be leash walked by a responsible person (a gentle leader I believe?) and unfortunately, the requirement that many of us personally hate, and deem to be unfair, and which seems to be "the deal breaker" for potential adopters, is a the requirement that a "warning sign" must put up on their outside fence - IF the adopter lives in Mult Co.
So many of us love this dog and continue to fervently hope for a happy life for Bolt.

My dream is that one day I'm able to to take happy update pics (or at least post some) of Bo happily settled into his great new home!

Please come visit him soon - outside of his kennel, and give him a chance to show you his amazing self. PLEASE NOTE _ BOLT IS NOW LOCATED IN A DIFFERENT AREA = PLEASE ASK TO MEET HIM!

In a Mcas foster home

Grommet, male terrier/shih tzu mix
Mcas weblink  (8/21 possible adopter?)
155044
Hello my name is Grommet! I was very scared at the shelter so I went into a foster home so the shelter could learn more about me. My foster mom says I can be slow to warm up to new people but when I'm comfortable we will be best buddies. I'm not needy like those other little dogs but I do enjoy being with you. I've enjoyed going to work with my foster mom but don't care to be fussed over so a quieter forever home would be best for me. Speaking of quiet, I do great when I'm left along during the day, but I will certainly welcome you when you come back home! I've been living with 4 really big dogs and we all get along very well. I'm about 9 years old, perfectly house trained and can use a doggy door.
9 yrs 14 lbs If you're interested in scheduling a time to meet me, please call my foster mom at 503-544-5684.

I can tend to get so excited I jump for the first thing I see, and the game is on! My ideal family will be active, patient and use positive training methods to help me become a more refined pup. I think working with a trainer would be a fun way for us to bond and learn together. I am eager to learn and can't wait to show you how smart I am!
