"FINN" Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO DOG Services"

 Shelter ID: 106551

Breed: Breed: German Shepherd Dog

neutered male 8 yrs 80 lbs adoption fee $158

Description: Do you want a low-key quiet guy like Finn? Finn is a German Shepherd Mix but boy he is handsome! We think that he is about 8 years old and weighs about 80 pounds. He has been on a diet to trim his waistline, and he has lost 10 pounds! This old man is looking for a retirement home that will give him a comfy bed to lay on and lots of love and pets. He is a little reserved at first when he meets a stranger, but once he knows you, he is very affectionate.

The interesting thing about this guy is, he is a fair weathered dog. Not too hot, not too cold...and the rain, lets face it…who really likes the rain? Now as far as other dogs go, he is a no shenanigans kinda guy. He can appreciate a dog of similar size that is easy going and does not want to wrestle all of the time. He has shown really good potty habits here and is tidy about his bedding. He would prefer to have a dog bed to lay on, because he is an older fella that needs extra padding to sleep on. He enjoys walks, and a good belly rub. He would enjoy a home that is quiet and has only adults to share his time with. Do you think that you could give an old dog a chance at a loving retirement home? Come to the shelter and meet him, he is waiting for you!

1. We're unsure how Finn is with cats or other small animals, so we recommend careful introductions and appropriate supervision if he will encounter them. His family should be prepared to manage introductions thoughtfully and give him time to learn what is expected.

2. Finn would absolutely benefit from basic training and continued positive reinforcement. His family should provide plenty of appropriate exercise, enrichment, and structured activities while also teaching him how to relax.

3. Finn has done well with other dogs here at the shelter! He may do great living with another dog of similar energy level, as his playful days may be behind him.

4. Due to his initial nervous behavior, Finn would do best in a home that is free of children.
