Camille, our 11 pound 3
year old chihuahua mix, is a late sleeper. Not because she's up all
night; our Camille just prioritizes her beauty rest. If her people want
to get up early, more power to them - Camille will be up when she's
ready. Speaking of being ready, Camille is plenty ready to find her own
home to sleep in.
Found stray, Camille had recently whelped
puppies and her skin was a mess from a flea infestation. She HATED the
shelter. We were asked to help get her somewhere quiet and we gladly
took her in. Camille is now flea-free, her hair is growing back, and we
spayed her - the responsibility of motherhood was not something she
wanted to repeat.
Camille is on the very shy side. Once she picks
her person (she seems to gravitate toward women), she is friendly,
cuddly, and funny. Camille loves parking herself on her foster-mom's lap
and gets soooo excited to see her that she can hardly stand it. New
people initially spook Camille; so do loud noises, whistling, and
unfamiliar weird objects. For that reason, we suspect Camille would do
best in a calm home with older kids.
Camille is good with dogs
and has been respectful of cats. She is crate trained and mostly quiet;
like most chihuahuas, Camille will let her people know when she sees
someone outside. Camille is JUST starting to play, but has already
expressed her love of food. In fact, Camille can jump high and will get
up on the counter to sneak left over snacks. If caught, she looks
sheepish, and shows you her belly.
Camille's foster mom says no
dog has ever liked a yard less - Camille is an indoor kid. She likes
being able to escape to her spot on the couch when she's feeling unsure.
However, Camille does like walks and will pee while on leash. For that
reason, we think Camille would do fine in an apartment. A quieter
neighborhood may be best - unfamiliar humans and strange dogs walking
toward Camille creep her out.
Camille is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventions.
Have
you given up whistling and hosting parties? Do you now prefer the quiet
life? Don't mind occasionally sharing your snacks with a sweet
chihuahua?
