"BRODY" cool guy...more relaxed BORDER COLLIE" "OHS- PORTLAND"

I'm in a different area at the shelter. Please ask to meet me!

"Brody is a graduate of our Behavior Modification Program and is looking for a special home. Brody is a friendly senior border collie who loves going for walks, hanging with his humans, and playing fetch. As far as border collies go, Brody is on the more relaxed side of the spectrum but still has all the energy to get up and go. He was brought into OHS after his owner passed. Brody does not like walking on slick floors like finished concrete or wood floors. He feels off balance and will hug walls, walk on his nails, and overall looks like Bambi walking on a frozen pond. He would do best in a home where there are rugs, carpet, or mats down for him to feel sure-footed. Brody is overall a fairly indifferent dog and while
he enjoys meeting new people and is not reactive to other dogs, he isn’t a very playful dog when around other dogs. He would NOT enjoy the uncontrolled environments of a dog park or doggie daycare."
(note- you can read more about how to get to know BRODY by reading "what to expect"in his OHS description!)

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I have been working with the Behavior and Training team here at OHS for consistency and am looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. You'll need to meet with me multiple times before taking me home.
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
  • I would love to get up and go adventure with you. Walks around the neighborhood, park, or the great outdoors would be stellar!
  • Want help meeting new people and making friends? I will be your best wing-dog!
  • I will be your shadow even on those grey PNW days.
  • I may be a mature Border Collie, but I have a young spirit!
  • Resource Guarding: I have a history of guarding my food from other animals or people.

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted.
  • My energy and size can be a lot for little kids, but I would do great with older, dog-savvy children.
  • I would flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
  • I like to weave between your legs while you walk, so I may not be the best fit for folks with mobility challenges.
