About Frankie

Personality: Affectionate, Athletic, Friendly, Funny, Loves, Playful

We met Frankie, our 2 year old 58 pound Shepherd/Malamute/Bully mix (DNA test done) as a 7 month old puppy in January of 2024. She was found stray and had a dislocated elbow after being hit by a car. Frankie healed in our care and was adopted out. Sadly, due to absolutely NO fault of her own, Frankie is back. Time to find this sweet dog her real forever home.

Frankie has been with a Stumptown foster home over the last few weeks and has been a delightful addition. She is sweet to all people, kids included, and is great in the house. Frankie stays in her crate when her foster family isn't home and she rarely, if ever, complains about that. She is not destructive, is potty trained, and is very affectionate. Frankie loves a cuddle and wants to be where her people are.

Out on the town, Frankie has been working hard on her leash skills. Although still an exuberant walker, Frankie does really well with the gentle leader. Frankie is excited to see other animals while walking and is learning not to pull toward them. Frankie does great with other dogs, however, and is a star at daycare and in the dog park. Her foster family says she is a gentle player, is respectful, is good at reading body language and thrives in a playgroup. We have not seen Frankie with cats but we suspect she would want to chase them.

Frankie is smart and eager to learn more. She already knows her basic commands and is food motivated. We think Frankie would be a really fun dog for someone who's active. Frankie doesn't require a dog friend in her new home, but she certainly would like access to other playful dogs.

Since we've had Frankie back, we updated her vaccines. She is heartworm negative and current on her flea and heartworm preventatives.

Times are tough and dogs are being left at shelters in record numbers. Big dogs like Frankie have the hardest time finding a home that will adopt them for keeps. But, we know Frankie's home is out there. Is it yours? Adoption fee waived.
