"CEDAR" IN FOSTER affectionate - can be timid- young Chocolate Lab mix

 UPDATE 9/22/23 Adopted

It's AMAZING the difference that a Foster Home can make for a scared/under-socialized shelter dog!

Cedar is one of 4 Lab mix siblings who came into the shelter very scared and has blossomed in foster.

Cedar is one year old, likely shepherd/lab mix, around 45 pounds
✅ Great with dogs of all sizes
✅ Good with horses
✅ Loves people
✅ Will make a great family dog (with respectful kids, of course)
✅ Walks excellent on leash
✅ Quiet and respectful in home
✅ Not a barker
This is what we have learned about Cedar in the last week since being in foster..
He is an absolute lover of all things- people and animals. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and hasn’t shown aggression toward anything. He likes to observe things.
He is an adolescent dog so we are working on impulse control. He jumps up, but does so gently. He loves to chew on things and rip them apart but has been great about just chewing on appropriate items like toys.
He is working on crate training and is doing well but hasn’t been left in a crate for long periods of time yet.
He is not yet neutered but will be neutered at rescues (MCAS) expense after adoption.
He needs to be in a home who can provide him adequate daily exercise, and continue with positive reinforcement training. His ideal home would have another dog for him to play with as he really enjoys the company of other dogs.
Adoption fee is $80 through Multnomah County Animal Services

This animal is in foster care! Apply to adopt them online! with 3 small dogs that I really love to play with. I play gentle with them because they're so much smaller than me. I've played with big dogs too but I prefer more gentle playing than rough and tumble. I am very respectful in the house and know where to go to the bathroom. I like to destroy toys and pull stuffing out of things so my new family needs to provide me toys so I can get it out of my system. I walk very well on a leash. The world can be a scary place but I am learning to love life! My new family will need to be able to exercise me every day in order to keep me happy and out of trouble. I prefer to be where my family is. I have met kids and I really liked them, as long as they are respectful of when I need space. I do very well with positive reinforcement training, and I shut down if I think I'm in trouble. I would love to live with another friendly dog. If you think we would make a good fit, please ask to meet me!
