"EDDIE" Chihuahua mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

 UPDATE 6/6/25 ADOPTED

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"EDDIE" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Stumptown Strays Facebook  NORMA plus video

Chihuahua mix, neutered male, housetrained, 4 yr 13 lb

ok with Dogs, Cats,  Kids   Adoption fee $350

Personality: Affectionate, Athletic, Funny, Loves, Playful, Friendly

Eddie, our 4 year old 13 pound chihuahua mix, must have work in the morning. Although we've never actually seen him do a job, Eddie is always the first to call it and go to bed. That's not to say our Eddie is lazy. In fact, between the business hours of 9-5, this guy likes to party. Wait, that IS Eddie's job! Ahh, our little RedBull sales rep must be excited about his potential promotion from "fun ambassador" to "adopted dog".

We suspect Eddie was hit by a car based on the injuries he had when he was found stray. Eddie sustained pelvic fractures, a fracture to his femur requiring the removal of his femoral head (an FHO procedure) and an injury to his eye causing blindness on one side. Eddie has recovered from his FHO, his eye removal, his neuter and his dental, and is doing great! That's a lot for a little dog, but not a lot for a RedBull sales rep.

Extremely friendly (a requirement for his day job), Eddie likes all people including kids. He is good with both dogs and cats and asks that his new home have another dog that he can play with. Eddie is leash trained and loves to go on walks. He is potty trained but sneakily marks in the house occasionally. As Eddie is smart and eager to please, we don't think this would be a hard thing to train out of him. Especially since Eddie likes his crate so much.

Eddie is very happy and easy going. The only thing that spooks him is traffic and occasionally strangers on the street, so a quieter neighborhood would likely be less stressful for him. He is energetic, super snuggly, and will show off to your friends by doing a hand stand when he pees.

Eddie is heartworm negative and is current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.

We know there is a lot of competition for the position of "adopted dog". We also think Eddie is a shoe-in.

"JAMES" 20 pound Jack Russel Terrier mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

  UPDATE 6/6/25 ADOPTED

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"JAMES" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Stumptown Strays Facebook  JAMES plus video

Jack Russel Terrier mix, neutered male, housetrained, 6 yr 20 lbs

ok with Dogs, Cats, older Kids   Adoption fee $350

Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Funny, Loves, Playful, Gentle

James, our 6 year old 20 pound terrier mix, is the perfect side-kick. We know a lot of dogs with "Main Character" vibes. Not our James. James will always be auditioning for roles as "best friend" and "friendly neighbor" and "party guest #3". With easy going vibes through and through, James is the dog version of Yacht Rock.

Definitely tired of typing this sentence over and over, but James was found stray and injured. He sustained a broken pelvis and needed time to heal. James has been with us for a while now and is doing great. He will always have a little bit of a hitch in his giddyup, but can do all the same things other dogs can do.

Friendly, crate, leash and potty trained, James gets an A+ in dog. He loves all other dogs that he meets and would be good with older kids (we worry little kids may be too rough for his injury). We have not seen James with cats, but could do a cat test if needed. He is gently playful and loves a cuddle session as much as he loves sunbathing.

Besides having a nonunion fracture in his pelvis, James has loose kneecaps which contribute to his occasional skip when he walks. He may periodically need an anti-inflammatory after longer play sessions, so his adopter will need to be prepared to watch his comfort.

James is heartworm negative and current on his flea and heartworm preventatives.

Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins and James the Terrier. Who doesn't have room for more smooth and easy in their life?

Apply to adopt on our website! https://www.stumptownstrays.org/adoption-application

"MARCELINE" *HOSPICE HOME Needed(or not?)* darling young Pitmix "STUMPTOWN"

UPDATE 6/6/25 ADOPTED or on hold

"Stumptown Strays" is a wonderful local Rescue that helps shelter dogs in need of medical assistance.

"MARCELINE" is Available for adoption with STUMPTOWN STRAYS

Pitbull mix, spayed female, house trained, 2 yr 52 lbs

Dogs- yes Cats-no, Kids-10 and up

Personality: Affectionate, Athletic, Playful, Loves, Funny, Friendly

Marceline, our 2 year old 52 pound pitty, is far too young to be seeking a hospice home. And we hate that we are asking for one. But, sadly, that's what Marceline needs. We are seeking a really special family who wants to give Marceline the best life; even if that life may be shorter than it should be.

Marceline was found stray locally with a large growth on her mandible.
Being so young, we were very hopeful that the growth was benign. We took her in, and thanks to the @1510Foundation for covering Marceline's care in its entirety, we were able to get surgery @MedVet Vancouver. There, they removed the tumor along with the front part of her jaw. She's healed beautifully and you can hardly tell that she's now got an overbite.

Sadly, the pathologist classified the tumor as a rare type of cancerous bone tumor. It is likely this tumor will regrow and it could metastasize to her lungs. We don't know when (or honestly even IF) this will happen. It could be in a few months, it could take years. Right now, she has no signs of cancer and is as happy as any dog we've met.

Marceline is a medium energy, super playful dog. She is happy with a sniff walk (and is good on leash) and fetch in the yard. She loves other dogs, especially if they match her vibe. She can get a little persistent about playing, however, so an easily annoyed dog won't be a good match. Marceline can't tell the difference between cats, little dogs and squirrels - she wants to put all of them in her mouth. So no cats or little dogs in her home.

Marceline is friendly with people and loves to cuddle. She has been good with kids that she's met and could live with kids over 10. Marceline is potty-trained, not destructive, and hasn't needed a crate. She would love to be an adventure buddy.

Our Marceline is here for a good time (not a long time). We are still so honored to help Marceline live a pain free life and to give her a chance to be happy. If you have been hoping to give a dog her best years, apply to adopt.

Marceline's original shelter pic - you can see the tumor in her mouth - before it was surgically removed

"CLAIRE" It's MY Turn! Young-senior GRANNY/Mama MaltiPOO/chi mix "STUMPTOWN STRAYS"

 UPDATE 6/6/25 ADOPTED

Clair's puppies Birdie and Betty received an overwhelming response from viewers (and are adopted), but this darling senior mom is getting no adoption interest.  How sad!!!  I fostered  Claire briefly when she first came into rescue. She was exceedingly loving and an easy house guest.  Someone will be very lucky to adopt Claire!

MaltiPoo, chi mix, spayed female, housetrained, 10 yrs 11 lbs

ok with Dogs, ok with Cats,  ok Kids   Adoption fee $400

Personality: Affectionate, Brave, Friendly, Gentle, Loves

Claire, our 11 pound 10 year old Maltipoo, should have been enjoying early retirement. Instead, Claire was stray and found herself at a very crowded shelter.
We were asked to help as Claire had horrific dental disease. Since we love a dental makeover, we were happy to take her in. Imagine our surprise when we discovered our senior Claire was also pregnant.

Claire needed an emergency c-section on April Fools Day. She and her two girls made it through with flying colors. Claire's puppies have found their forever homes, which meant we were finally able to address Claire's mouth. She didn't have any salvageable teeth left. Although she's now toothless, Claire eats so much more comfortably, and is now ready to get a home of her own.

Very friendly, Claire is good with all people, including kids. She has been great with both cats and dogs. Claire is perfectly potty trained, quiet when left alone, and not destructive
. Claire loves walks so much that she dances when her person puts on their walking shoes. She is very cuddly, will politely tap you to remind you to keep petting her, and loves to be held.

Claire has had normal blood work, is heartworm negative and is current on her flea and heartworm preventative.

We can't imagine having to raise kids when we ought to be getting our AARP card.
Fortunately, Claire never has to do that again! Is yours the retirement home she's been looking for?

Interested?
