The dogs at Clackamas Co shelter have a harder time getting adopted since recent budget cuts closed the shelter on Saturdays.
The longer stays are tough on dogs! Please consider taking some time on a Tues thru Friday 1:00-4:00 pm to visit with one of the adoptable dogs!
Fill out our adoption application. There is a $10 application fee due at the time of submission. Please apply on our website and we will contact you. If you’re applying from out of state to adopt a dog, please note that it is a requirement that you come meet the dog at our facility. Adoptions are available by appointment only. We will call you as soon as your approved adoption application is next in our queue. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we find homes for pets as quickly and efficiently as possible. For more information on the adoption process, call 503-655-8628 or email dogshelter@clackamas.us.

"MULBERRY" Available for Adoption at "CLACKAMAS CO DOG Services"
Shelter ID: 106438 Breed: Chihuahua - Smooth Coated
neutered male 1 yr 6 lbs adoption fee $205 ?
Description: Hello, my name is Axel! I'm a tiny guy with a big heart. I'm about 1 year old, a Chihuahua mix, and weigh around 6 pounds. I may take a little time to get comfortable when we first meet, but once I know you're my person, I'm all about the love!
I enjoy being close to my humans and would happily spend my days curled up in your lap or tagging along on your adventures. I think I'd make a great little “go with you” buddy and would love a home where I can be part of the family.
I'm looking for someone who understands the special needs of a small dog and will give me the patience, care, and confidence-building I need. Could I be the tiny companion you've been looking for?
1. Axel is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix who weighs around 6 pounds. He would do best with an adopter familiar with small dog needs and who can provide patience, positive reinforcement, and appropriate handling.
2. Axel is affectionate once he feels comfortable and enjoys spending time in people's laps. Because he can be reserved with new people, a home with children 13+ would be the best fit.
3. Axel has done well around other dogs in the shelter environment, but would definitely some structured introductions. If you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet will be required.
4. Axel's history with cats is unknown. Please discuss this with your adoption counselor if you have cats or other small animals in the home.
