Project POOCH, quite simply, changes lives. We operate a kennel inside a youth correctional facility and pair currently incarcerated youth with shelter dogs. The youth learn kennel management, positive reinforcement, grooming, and training techniques. The youth learn what it means to be depended on by another living creature and what it means to be trusted and relied upon. And, they learn what unconditional love feels like—sometimes for the first time. Our dogs get trained, loved, and adopted into their forever homes. There is no limit to the amount of time a dog spends in our care, and we are focused on the individual needs of each dog."

Oh my dog! Hi! I’m Bubbles. I’m primed and ready to be your next best friend. If you like to have a little shadow with you throughout the day, I am the guy for you. I can cheer you up with my silly antics, or we can have a snuggle sesh with your favorite movie.
Bubbles is 7 years young. He is a sweet, snuggly guy who just wants to be with his friends. He can often be found curled up next to one of the youth handlers, or watching them eat breakfast (he can be quite the beggar, but he’s always polite about it). He always makes us laugh with his antics, including his habit of rolling on his beds making the funniest noises.
He’s playful and energetic with his toys; He LOVES to chase down his stuffies and shake them enthusiastically. He is figuring out tennis balls and enjoys chasing them as they roll. But his favorite toys have been the long skinny stuffies with no stuffing.
He is still learning how to communicate and play with other dogs though and does best with a tolerant play partner. Though he is only a recent neuter and this might change, Bubbles isn’t too keen on intact males. They give him some anxiety and stress him out. He has played fine with neutered males and doesn’t show the same insecurities. And he has loved playing with the POOCH girls.

Easy to handle for grooming—prefers clippers to scissors
