Sometimes it takes me a bit of time to get comfortable with new people, so any introductions should be done slowly and patiently. If you do that, I will be sure to warm up quickly! My name is Limo. Can't you see my "stretched out" little body?! I am very shy and would love a patient home to help me adjust to my new environment and not push me too far too fast. If given time and space, I really become loving and happy to be with my new friends. I have had a little trouble with hair and weight loss, but with regular flea treatment and a healthy diet, my hair will grow back full and beautiful in no time! "Hattie" a special shelter dog - remembrance

Hattie was adored by many, and treated to a wonderful life by her adopted dad Patrick.

We would like to do a special photo blog posting in honor of a much loved and appreciated senior Pitbull named "Hattie."
Hattie, a former Animal Shelter dog, has reached the hearts of so many people in her life, and is the inspiration behind this MCAS photo blog, which her adopted dad Patrick started in 2008.

 

In 2001, Hattie's life in a crowded animal shelter took a wonderful turn when she was adopted by her new dad Patrick.  After adopting Hattie, Patrick became an avid animal shelter advocate. As a professional pet photographer, in 2008 he created our "MCAS Photo Blog" as a legacy to "Hattie". We continue to carry on the MCAS Photo Blog for the love of the many local shelter dogs that we meet, knowing that good homes are out there for these great dogs.

Our hope is that Hattie will inspire you to appreciate the "potential" of all dogs, regardless of looks, breed, size, background, or even kennel presentation!  Hopefully, if you have the patience, love and resources needed for a new canine friend, you'll find a great Shelter Dog to fit your lifestyle and allow the incredible journey to begin!

 

Here are some photos (past and present) of Hattie with different people and going different places: a perfect canine friend adopted from a city shelter. She's been living a happy life and she spreads happiness where she goes. She often converts people who are scared of 'pit bulls' and even some people who are scared of dogs.

"Once upon a time a true friendship began ... the story of 2 homeless shelter companions, adopted from the MCAS shelter who found "home" with one another

Nala a rag doll cat the age of 6 was adopted by a volunteer at the shelter. A month later the Hammond family adopted their first large dog into the family a 3 yr old Doberman and gave him  the Prince name of "Xavier"

Nala helped greet Xavier into the household, allowing the Doberman to follow her and play with her. Xavier has adopted Nala as his best friend in the house!

Nala and Xavier sleep together every chance given

 and truly love one another!"

They call me Myles and I’m hopeful we can trek a few of those together! I’d make a dynamite hike companion or jogging buddy and walk nicely on my harness. I’m a very youthful 9 years of age and still full of puppy play. I love, love, love water and am enjoying learning about toys too. I wouldn't mind sharing my home with another nice dog or being your one and only is fine by me as long as we stay active. I’ve had a good start on my training and seem to know the basics plus a trick or two. I’m looking for an owner who will continue to teach me important things like playing gentle with my mouth and not jumping up to say hi. I’m learning and improving daily and look forward to rounding out to be your perfect companion. This boy is a cool combo of fun loving athleticism but with a couple walks a day he’s also a laid back well behaved house dog. I'm Scouting for a new owner so that's what the shelter named me. I'm a gorgeous black and tan neutered male German Shepherd. The shelter folks figure I'm about 3 years old and I'm a big and beautiful 86 lbs. It will take me a while to realize that I'm in my forever home but we shepherds are known for our loyalty and love of our people. If you are looking for an active, fun dog for an active fun home...well here I am! I might be too much for small kids so the shelter is recommending that if there are kids in my new home that they are a sturdy 8 & up.

Corky here! As you can see from my cute little tail, I am spring-loaded to run on out of here and into your home! I have been around other dogs here at the shelter and shown social behaviors.
