around the shelter, the dogs often end up in any color, regardless of gender and they don't mind!

Hello, my name is El Guapo. I am a social and healthy dog that is looking for a new family! My shelter friends can't tell you what my past experiences have been like but they can say I arrived in a sweater, have been friendly with people, and playful with toys. I reserve picking up my feet and looking in my mouth for only people who I have build a relationship with so I am asking that any children in my home be over the age of 10. Please come down and meet me. I am around 3 years old and weigh 9 pounds

Well hello kind people of Multnomah County!  My name is Pita, and I'm just hanging out here waiting to catch your eye. Yes, I saw you sneak a peek at me.  Aren't I the most adorable and sweetest thing you've laid eyes on today?  I am looking for a wonderful and loving home with respectful children at least 10 years old.  I have charmed all of the volunteers here at the shelter with my sweet disposition.  I'm basically a gem of a dog who will thrive in a home that provides a quality diet, allows me a spa day every couple of months for grooming, and helps me out with some very basic, simple eye drops.  If you think we'd be a terrific match, well then step right up already!  Let's get out of here and start our wonderful life's journey together. I'm ready to provide you with loving companionship and joy. I am about 9 years old, and I weigh about 10 lbs.

I am looking for a retirement home. You know, the kind of place where things move at a slower pace and I can mosey through my day. I will appreciate and enjoy gentle daily outings or walks but will need a securely fenced yard or supervised outside times only. I have lived previously with other mature dogs and cats but would not like a home with a young rowdy dog or young children. I am a sweet older lady looking for a soft place to land. Please ask about me. I am about 14 years of age.

Hi there my name is Unity. I am one of the most interesting looking dogs you will ever meet. I'm a blend of Shar-Pei and the rest is anybody's guess. I am about 2-1/2 years old and weigh 51lbs. I've been a little unsure of all the new stuff here at the shelter so if there are kids in my new home they should be quiet and respectful of my need to get settled in. I already know sit so come meet me and we'll discover what else I know together.

The shelter is really looking out for me so they are offering a half price adoption if you sign up for pre paid reward based classes. We will have so much fun! Lets get to know each other.

ADOPTED!
Jan 28, 2015

Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink

Hello my name is Simba. You can already see I am drop dead gorgeous but behind this pretty exterior lurks a fun loving guy. I am very active & would love to go on urban walks and jaunts in the park, Upkeep, just schedule me for the dog spa monthly & brush me daily that is not too much to ask for a beauty like me. I have had a roommate here and also got along with the nice family dog that found me and brought me here. With the right match and careful introduction I should do well in a dog household. We Pom’s are a protective group but if you expose me to all your friends & family I will get the difference between the lurking burglar & visiting aunt Suzie. I am around 5 years old & weigh 16.2 lbs.

id #  565462

Hi there, Skye is my name. The shelter thinks I am a one year old Airedale mix and I weigh about 52lbs. I'm cute and sassy and  I know sit, and ready to learn more!  The shelter thinks obedience classes would be a great idea because  I could use some continuing education. No kitties for me, they are too much fun to chase.  The shelter recommends kids in my new home be 16 & up because sometimes I get mouthy when I don't like something like getting my ears cleaned.  I do currently have an ear infection, which is being treated, but you'll need follow up vet care will be needed.

"SAM LOREK" gorgeous lovable VERY TALL and Strong Malamute/Akita mix

ADOPTED!
Jan 24, 2015

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
id # 565370

Don't know how I ended up with two names, but I'm Sam Lorek. As you can tell I'm one handsome boy. My previous owner says I'm a Malamute/Akita mix and I'm 4-1/2 years old and weigh in at 108lbs. I really haven't lived inside and got bored and jumped the 4' fence to go exploring with my buddy Ghost. I need a home without small dogs, cats or caged pets and definitely need a home with a higher fence. The shelter strongly recommends that Sam Lorek not be left unattended in the yard because even 6' fence wouldn't be much of a challenge for this big guy to scale

Hello, my name is Samuel! I arrived at the shelter as a scared little guy who wasn't so sure of his surroundings. After some time to adjust, food to boost my confidence and friendly strangers to trust I have blossomed into a social affectionate young man. Because I can get overwhelmed easily, I am asking that any new family members be over the age of 8. Are you interested in showing me the world isn't so scary and building a trusting relationship? Please come down to the shelter and meet me! I am around 1 years old and weigh 10 pounds

"BOOMER" you'll see the Italien Greyhound in me!

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
id # 565340

Hello, my name is Boomer! I am sad to report that this isn't my first time searching for a family. My story is that I was adopted from a different shelter in October and now they are unable to care for me. My shelter friends are not sure how many homes I've had in my lifetime but they are hoping this will be my last. I have been reported to peacefully coexist with dogs and cats, ride well in cars, and need some guidance on not going potty in the house. I have been social with people too but have to admit that I prefer my feet stay on the ground until I build a trusting relationship with someone. For this reason, we are asking that any children in my new home be 10 years or older. Are you interested in me? Please come down to introduce yourself! I am around 2 and a half years old and weigh 16.4 pounds

"NU NU" aka "NEWMAN" Blue-eyed Brindle/white Tripod

TRANSFERRED to Oregon Humane Society!

here's Newman's  (aka Nu Nu) weblink at OHS

You guessed it, I am the cutest boy in this jointor shall I say handsome? I am Newman and I love to be active. I will need daily physical and mental exercise to keep happy and healthy. I’m a curious guy who likes going for walks so I can check everything out. I can be a handful for young kids and their excitement gets me excited so it would be best if I was with children who were around dogs previously or who are more mature. I will require a cat free home. I have a lot to offer the right person and am ready to find my forever home. I came to OHS from Mult. Co. Animal Services through the Second Chance Program.

Hi my name is New Orleans but you can call me Nu Nu. As you can see I got myself into a situation recently but the shelter health staff has been great helping me recover. Well to be honest I am the favorite of all the shelter staff.
I do have a few special needs like living in a house without a lot of stairs. Not much to ask considering how sweet and good natured I am.
I have kept my kennel clean this entire time so you know I have good house manners. What the shelter staff is not sure about is my dog and cat skills are so a safe and slow introduction would be important for my success. At around 2 years old and weighing in at 64 lbs I am ready to start my new life with you.

I'd like to thank My Veterinary team, and the MCAS shelter staff for the great care they gave to me! ...and on another note, did you happen to notice that the amputation line follows my natural brindle/white pattern?  Personally, I think that's pretty cool, and makes me even more uniquely beautiful  than my incredible blue eyes!

ps- I'm doing really well as a Tripod!

"GLIMMER" lovely little Poodle

ADOPTED!
Jan 25, 2015

Available for adoption with Multnomah County Animal Services!

here's my Mcas weblink
id # 565476

Hello, I'm Glimmer. I am a 1 year old silver miniature poodle. I came in with my sister Twinkle who has now been adopted. I only weigh about 8lbs with some matted fur. When I got spayed at the shelter, they did their best to groom me and now you can see the glimmer in my eyes. The shelter recommends that if there are kids in my new home that they are at least 7 years old and respectful of my need to adjust. I have become social with people but am terrified of other dogs. The shelter is recommending that I go to a home where I can be the only canine princess.

I seem to be scared of other dogs.
Nice slow, patient and positive introductions with cool dogs will help me gain a little confidence.

Here's me when I came into the shelter painfully matted.
Since I'm a non- shedder, I'll need routine grooming

Jan 2015

Jan 23, 2015 Here's a happy update from Milton's adopters: Hi there, Milton and Jeffrey,  our sheep, have become best buds. Milton loves the goat house, and graciously shares it with Jeffrey when it's raining. They also literally butt heads during breakfast sometimes! We are loving having him as part of our family!

Milton hopes that his recent Fame  (over  18,000 views of his Dancing Videogram ) brings good tidings to MCAS! The  Multnomah County Animal Shelter  has taken great care of him... as they do for all the homeless Multnomah County area Shelter animals that come into their care!

I was just a little baby goat in this pic!

Milton is a white and chestnut male Boer Goat. He is approximately 8 months old. He weighs about 47 lbs. His adoption fee is $150 and includes neuter and hoof trim planned for January 15th, 2015. Milton has quite a friendly personality and is a favorite critter at the shelter among both staff and volunteers. Goats are heard animals and Milton would really like a friend or 2 to pal around with. Come to the shelter and meet Milton today!

Here's me being a playful goof, as always!  Laura the photog told me it was a good thing that I was getting neutered tomorrow ;)  I wonder what that means?

I love to dance and play
