"URGENT!!! MCAS SHELTER IS FULL!!! Please adopt "MCAS"

NOTE- it's old, loud and not an ideal place to visit -  BUT there are some really GREAT DOGS who NEED good homes like yours (NOW)!  (ASK Staff to please close kennel doors so the show yard is more quiet/calmer)

"Our dog kennels are at 98% capacity, and we have over 50 wonderful dogs who need to find their forever homes today and this weekend- one of them could be your perfect match! We're asking for your help to get them adopted to make room for the other found and at-risk animals of our community.
This September, all dog adoption fees are just $25, plus license fees, as part of our Back to School Adoption Special. If you're ready to add a new companion to your family, please visit our shelter this weekend.
If you're not ready to adopt, you can still make a big difference. Please share this post with your friends and family who could welcome a new pet into their home. Your help in spreading the word is invaluable, today and always!"  Multnomah County Animal Services FB 9/12/25

Adoption Considerations

  • Prepare enough time for your visit. Adopters should expect that it may be up to two (2) hours at the shelter to process an adoption, including meeting pets, an adoption consultation, and waiting periods. Wait times may be significantly longer on weekends.
  • Our adoption process, including adoption counseling, will end at 3:30 pm. We encourage you to show up as early as possible. Adopters may continue to browse adoptable pets at the shelter, but the queue for new adoption counseling sessions will close, and new adoptions may not be processed.
