"WAYLON" SO HANDSOME! PUPPY *good cats, kids, dogs* "AGAVE RESCUE" fostered in Vancouver, WA

UPDATE 9/7/25 ADOPTED

"WAYLON" AVAILABLE for ADOPTION with "AGAVE RESCUE"

Our longest term dog currently is Waylon - a puppy no less! He has been in our care for 6 weeks and is currently fostered with our partner trainer, The Balanced Life
Waylon is 5 months old and approximately 33 pounds. He’s a German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix with a stunning brindle coat and a constant smile
Waylon is looking for an active home who values putting in training work with their new puppy. Waylon would thrive in a home with structure, rules, exercise and outings.
Good with cats. Good with other dogs but can be very playful. He takes correction well. Doing excellent with crate and potty training.

Meet Waylon

Waylon is hoping for an active, engaging owner who will help him grow into his best adult self. Waylon was rescued after being dumped with his four litter mates in an orchard in California. We have the video of their rescue if you'd like to see it and they are so happy to have been found by our rescue partners.

- Approximate date of birth: 4/2/25

- Weighs 32 pounds at 20 weeks old

- Possibly a Pit Bull/German shepherd mix (his litter mate's adopters had his brother DNA tested)

- Social, happy, playful puppy who loves people and other dogs. Waylon really enjoys dog friends and is eager to play. He takes correction well from adult dogs and backs off if he's being too rowdy puppy. A dog in his future home who is both willing to play with him but also correct him at times would be super helpful to him.

- Good with cats and currently fostered with a cat

- He has not been around kids much but we imagine he would be excited to tag along with them.

- Has been excellent with his potty habits and no potty accidents in the home for the past few weeks in foster. As long as he is kept on a potty schedule routine and supervised as any young puppy should, his potty habits have been perfect.

- Working hard on crate training. He will protest in the crate for about 10 minutes and then after that he settles into the crate. He can sleep in his crate at night or out on a dog bed closed in the human's bedroom and does well with both arrangements.

- Waylon does get car sick. This can be mitigated with over the counter anti-nausea medication. But an adopter who wants to take him everywhere in the car with them would be hard for Waylon. Waylon is working with a trainer to help him practice feeling less anxious in the car. When he does ride in a vehicle he is quiet in his crate. But he does drool a lot and can vomit.

* Waylon is currently fostered with a trainer who is doing a solid amount of foundational work such as: waiting to go through doorways and exit his crate, place cue and how to settle, and taking him out to socialize on walks. This trainer is willing to offer continued training and support for Waylon at a discounted rate and is located in Vancouver, Washington. Puppies need lots of training and having a built in coach to support you in new puppy ownership is so valuable.

Waylon is fully vaccinated, dewormer, microchipped, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee includes his neuter surgery at our partner vet clinic in Milwaukie, Oregon between 6 months to 1 year of age. It also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland, or Tualatin.

$150 adoption fee
