What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I came from a special rescue case back in January and had a lot to learn. The amazing staff and volunteers have been teaching me how to wear a collar, to walk on a leash, what it means to sleep in a cozy bed and to be a human's best friend.
  • I am very shy and fearful at first, but once I get to know you, I am affectionate and playful and an all-around good time.
  • I don't like being scared, so I'm pretty good at avoiding the things that make me uncomfortable. When startled, I'll show off my impressive vertical leap and make a run for it. Introducing me to novelty very slowly is super important.
  • You know the saying, "the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach?" I'm no different; I love food. I'm a social eater, so pick a predictable feeding corner, and I'll be a happy dude. I'm pretty happy with a long-lasting chewy, too.
  • My breed tends to be incredibly loyal to 1 or 2 people at best. This means I may appear intimidating to strangers. I need a human who can keep me safe, continue to teach me the ways and to set clear expectations and boundaries so I can be my best self.

The type of home I require:

  • I need to go to an adult only home.
  • I need a home without cats or other small animals.
  • I must go to a home with a fully fenced yard. No apartments or busy downtown dwellings.
  • I must be the only dog in the home.
  • To learn more about, my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
  • My adoption process:

    • OHS has created a more in-depth adoption questionnaire, which can be accessed via the "Meet Me" button at the top of the profile.
    • Once it is reviewed, you will receive an email with a link to schedule a phone consultation.
    • After your phone consult, if it feels like a good match, your adoption counselor will schedule an in-person meet and greet. You will meet me with our volunteer and staff handlers. If you fall in love, I'll be sent home the very same day!

    Interested in adopting me?

Animals available for adoption in foster homes need a special questionnaire submitted. From there, we will make an initial appointment for a phone consult to discuss their needs, and then schedule a meet and greet. Appointments are set on a first-come first-served basis in the order that we receive the questionnaires.
