"ZZ TOP" *WAITING too long!*Nice, 42 lb *skinny* Gentleman HOUND* "MCAS"

I'VE  Been waiting too long, and it's not fair.  I was in an off-site program to help vet students, and was a good boy with everything they asked of me,  but now I'm back at the shelter still looking for a good home.  I'm a mellow guy with a big hound voice, so I need a place where that won't bother any neighbors. (seems like people are more cranky than dogs)

Now I'm tired of living in kennels and not in a home. I'm loosing weight, and am hoping to  find a nice soft spot to land- that elusive forever home. Can you help me find one?

"ZZ TOP" is Available for adoption at Multnomah County Animal Services!

ZZ Top, a distinguished older hound with a voice that carries, is looking for a loving retirement home. This seasoned gentleman arrived as a stray, but his charming personality quickly shone through. While ZZ Top enjoys expressing himself with robust vocalizations, he's also a sweet and gentle soul. He's seeking a patient owner who appreciates the unique character of a hound, including their distinctive baying, and can provide a comfortable, understanding environment. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a memorable soundtrack, ZZ Top might be the perfect addition to your life.

"Meet Sabie, our gentle senior sweetheart. This lovely Saint Bernard mix is ready to write her next chapter with someone who appreciates the simple things - sunny spots, soft beds, and quiet cuddles. She’s not in a rush these days, but she’s got so much love to give to the right person who’s willing to slow down and enjoy life by her side. Visit hssw.org/dogs to learn more."       HSSW FB 6/21/25

SABIE  #167984 Saint Bernard spayed female 14 yrs 1 mth 70 lb

Breed:  $25

Here's what you need to know about me:

I'd like a relaxed home. I wouldn't say I'm "old"... I've just been around for a while. And that's made me appreciate the finer things in life like naps in the sun, looking out windows, and the special joy when you're able to scratch juuuuust the right spot. I like to take it easy at home - I'm not up for lots of activity.

It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.

"MIKA" *needs confidence* loving PETITE DOBERMAN *good with cats* "Humane Society of SW Washington- Vancouver"

"MIKA"  Available for Adoption at the HUMANE SOCIETY OF SW WASHINGTON

dogs available HS SW Washington (both Vancouver and Longview)

MIKA  #167756 Doberman Pinscher  spayed female 1 yr 1 mth 33 lbs

Breed:  $400

Here's what you need to know about me:

It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.

My foster {note MIKA is currently at the shelter}knows me better than anyone! Here's what they had to say about me during my time with them:

"Mika greets new people a little reluctantly, but warms up super quickly. She is very, very sweet, LOVES cuddling, and will be very clingy (like all Dobermans) if you let her.

Mika needs someone who will take time to provide structure and boundaries. She doesn't seem to know "how to dog" in a house just yet. She will potty right away when taken outside, but still needs frequent outings (like a puppy) every couple hours to prevent accidents.

She is nervous around quick movements and noises of small children. With a cautious, slow warm up to kids, I think she could do okay.

She walks pretty well on a leash, but is fearful of busy environments. She's getting better every day, but needs someone calm and confident to remind her that everything is okay!

She loves and tries to play with smaller dogs immediately. She is also totally non-reactive to cats, even inquisitive ones!

Mika will need a slow introduction to dogs her size or larger, because she is extremely scared of them at first. It took her 2-3 days of observing my 100lb male Doberman from behind a baby gate until she would greet him without fearful reactions.

Mika is highly trainable! She's super food motivated, eager to please, and learning things very quickly."

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • Just like a bear, I am snuggly and love butt scratches.
  • I'm a social gal! I love being a part of the action and having the attention on me.
  • Looking for a conversation partner? I can be quite a talkative lady.
  • I like my relaxation time, but also enjoy a good stroll. Regular low impact exercise will help get me to a healthy weight.
  • I can be sensitive to handling, including but not limited to medical/grooming and restraint. I will need someone who can help offer guidance in these situations and offer a bit more patience!
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
