ASTER Shelter ID: 105950 Australian Cattle Dog neut male, 2 yrs 44 lbs

Description: Heeler lovers, take note! Aster is here, and he needs you come meet him - now, preferably! Aster is a young Australian Cattle Dog at around 2 years of age and weighing about 44lbs, who excemplifies the breed. He bonds HARD to his trusted people, and wants to be with them as much as possible. But he also enjoys a good sprint and zoom around the yard (or field?) to get some of his heeler-energy out. Aster shows many of the typical traits of a cattle dog, and knows that a family who is ready for ALL of the cattle dog energy is out there for him. If you're ready for a higher energy, loyal companion, Aster may be your guy!

1) Aster will need a home that has Australian Cattle Dog experience. He displays many of the typical traits for the breed, and would not do well as a first-time dog or first-time ACD! He has high energy demands and will need someone who is confident in their training and handling of his breed.

2) Aster has been dog neutral here at the shelter. He doesn't seek out interactions with other dogs, but other high-energy type dogs can get him a bit frustrated. He would likely do best with a confident female dog of similar age/size/demeanor.

3) We don't know how Aster will be with cats or other small animals, however he has seen wild rabbits here at the shelter and thinks they could be fun to chase. Appropriate training and introductions will likely need to take place for Aster to do well in a home with cats or other small animals.

4) Aster is a high energy young guy, and due to his very typical heeler behaviors, may not do well with children and thus is seeking an adult only home.
