🌟 Meet Hank the Heartbreaker! πŸ’– Greetings! I'm Hank, and I'm a certified Sweetie Pie ready to fill your life with warmth and unconditional love. I'm a handsome, distinguished 7.5-year-old male Golden Retriever, and I've polished my golden coat to shine brighter than any star on the Christmas tree! πŸŽ„ I've already mastered the art of being the perfect companion. I'm past all that rowdy puppy business, and I'm ready for the good life, which involves soft beds, slow strolls, and lots of belly rubs.

Here's what makes me special: Gentle Soul: I'm the definition of mellow and sweet. I take treats politely and offer the best, softest nudges for attention. Expert Cuddler: My favorite place is right beside you on the couch. I promise to be your loyal shadow and the best foot-warmer you've ever had. 🐾 Easygoing: I love my naps, but I'm always up for a relaxed walk around the neighborhood or a gentle game of fetch. Heart of Gold: My favorite thing is making my people happy. I live for a good scratch and an encouraging word!

πŸ₯° I'm looking for a loving home where I can spend my golden years showering my family with affection. If you need a devoted, easygoing, and incredibly sweet best friend, your search ends with me! 🎁 Ready to welcome this mature, magnificent sweetheart into your home for the holidays?

What my friends at OHS say about me:

  • I have been working with the Behavior team at OHS and I'm looking for a special home. It will take time and patience to get to know me. Click the "meet me" button to start the process and schedule an appointment.
  • To learn more about my specific needs, please read my What to Expect handout.
  • I love to learn! You can use my favorite toys or treats as positive reinforcement and to teach me new things.
  • High Energy: I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. I will need positive outlets and a calm environment to help me flourish.
  • I am used to living an active lifestyle! I would love to get up and go adventure with you.
  • I love to run! I have been on the running team while at OHS and would make a great running buddy!
  • Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.
  • I really enjoy the company of my human friends.
  • I love to be the center of attention. All eyes and pets on me, please!

The type of home I'm looking for:

  • I will need to meet any canine companions prior to getting adopted.
  • I can be picky about my canine companions. Slow introductions and having my own space will be important for me to adjust to a home with resident dogs.
  • My energy and size can be a lot for little kids, but I would do great with older, dog-savvy children.
  • I need a home without cats or other small animals.

"CHAMP" waiting....spry senior ROTTEI/German Shep mix "MCAS"

 UPDATE 12/6/25 to foster home

{Champ} Cinnabuns enjoys leisurely sniff walks, the occasional romp around the yard, and napping near his humans. He's an easy going guy! And the icing on the cake? This hunk of love is dog social! He gets along great with his foster brothers and would likely do well with another canine companion in his new home!" Champ's former foster home

#342833 listed as neutered male, ROTTWEILER, 8 yrs 11 mths 105 lbs (large but also overweight?)

*Tail type: Full
 *recommend no cats in home

Meet Champ, a seasoned companion with a heart of gold! This handsome 8.5-year-old Rottweiler and German Shepherd mix (a DNA test confirmed he's 54% Rottie and 46% GSD!) is a true people-pleaser who loves being the center of attention. He is incredibly social and will shower you with affection. Champ is a smart boy, and the quickest way to his heart is through his stomach-he is highly food motivated, which makes him a joy to bond with and continue training. Champ is a special boy who is looking for a quiet, adult-only home. He is past the puppy stage and is ready to be a devoted member of a family. Champ would likely thrive with intentional introductions with another well-matched dog friend.
When it comes to other dogs, Champ has shown he can be a fantastic and selective companion. In his foster home, {NOTE Champ is currently in the shelter, not a foster home} he is best friends with the resident German Shepherd. They love to romp, play tug-of-war, and share a very "loud, grumbly/growly" play-style that is always in good fun. He also peacefully co-exists with other dogs in the home that aren't interested in playing.

All he asks for is a warm bed, a few tasty treats, and lots of attention. If you're ready to give a sweet, deserving boy the retirement he deserves, come meet Champ today!

UPDATE 12/6/25  on hold

MCAS needs to spay/neuter all dogs before adoption, especially the females and purebred dogs! Management is failing the dogs and the community. They have had years to resolve this issue and are creating a larger problem for homeless pets. .....WHAT are they thinking?? You can't help but worry, and wonder - will these adopted dogs be used by people for breeding?...but...it's not the dogs' fault, and the dogs need good adopters!
